Shimoga: The Shimoga district administration has now come under the scanner as they showed negligence in burying the COVID patient’s dead body.
The incident took place on Friday, July 10 midnight at Rotary crematorium of the district.
As per sources, the officials after placing a few wooden sticks on the COVID-19 victim’s body left the spot without performing the last rites of the COVID victim and without waiting for the body to burn completely. Soon after they left the stays dogs tried to eat the dead body, however, the locals who got to know about it chased the dogs.
On receiving the information the City Corporation officers and political leaders visited the spot and tried to control the irked public. However, the body was then cremated by the officials as per the protocol.
The incident has not only worried the public but it has created panic among them. People have also appealed to the district administration to pay attention to the issue.
The video of the instance went viral sparking major backlash. The authorities are said to be seeking an internal investigation and at the moment no actions have been taken against the officials.
It may be recalled that recently residents of Shimoga had blocked a road leading to the crematorium in the neighborhood, making it plain that they did not wish to have an infected patient’s final rites performed there.
