The main accused Kamal Babu reportedly wanted to work at SBI but he his application was rejected. Notably his parents were former bank employees. His father died 10 years ago and his mother had retired recently.
Babu along with his associates had set up the branch to make it look genuine and had also forged documents for the purpose.
An existing SBI customer enquired about the new branch with the manager of the branch where he had his account. The issue was raised with the Zonal office which informed the Branch Manager that there are only two branches in Panruti.
