Kolar: An incident where the mother of an infected person was admitted to the hospital instead of the patient has been reported here.

A Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) employee of Sumathi Nagar here was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was admitted to Jalappa Hospital. The employee’s wife was also admitted to the hospital for a different ailment.

The wife and son of the BEML employee who were in primary contact with him were also tested for COVID-19. The 26-year-old son of the employee was confirmed to be infected.

However, the health officials, instead of admitting the son to the COVID-19 ward admitted his non-infected mother to the ward. The mistake was known after the son raged against the hospital authorities. All were then placed in the special ward of the hospital.
