Mumbai: Based on the decision of that will be taken by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) at its meeting on Monday, July 20, the Governing Council of Indian Premier League (IPL) will set the venue of the next season of the tournament.

According to reports, the Apex Council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its meeting on Friday, discussed issues such as creating biosecure zones for cricketers while flying from and to India and biosecure training facilities.

In the meeting, it was also discussed that the decision to hold the IPL will be dependent on whether the ICC postpones the T20 World Cup earlier planned for October or November this year.

However, if they decide to hold the IPL, the venue for it could not be in India.

The Governing Council has the proposals of Mumbai, Pune and the UAE.

UAE is very interested in hosting the tournament and is already pitching its Dubai International Stadium in the Dubai Sports City to the BCCI. The City also has the ICC Academy which has two of its own cricket grounds.

If the decision to hold the IPL at UAE goes through then it will be the second time IPL matches will be held there after 2014 and the first time for the entire tournament.

BCCI too is interested in UAE being the host, however, they are looking for a closed-door event without spectators for which UAE has offered an indoor facility.

All things considered, as mentioned, all depends on the postponement of the ICC T20 event.

Additionally, the BCCI, in its Friday meeting also discussed the issue of BCCI’s constitution. BCCI has petitioned the Supreme Court to modify its constitution which is still to be heard by the Court.
