New Delhi: Nalini Sriharan, one of the seven convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case allegedly attempted suicide at Vellore Special Prison for Women, where she has been serving life-term imprisonment for past 29 years.
As per reports, Nalini attempted suicide following some misunderstanding with a co-prisoner on Monday night. However her lawyer Pugalendhi is suspecting foul play into the incident.
Speaking to reporters, Pugalendhi said that Nalini has endured both physical and mental torture during the 29-year incarceration, thus the reasons being given by the jail officials for her step seem far from true. Perhaps, there is more to it than meets the eye, he added.
