Udupi: The soil from the town’s Sri Krishna mutt was sent to Ayodhya to be set on the base of the new Sri Ram temple to be built there.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to add the soil from hundreds of rivers as well as temples and shrines from across the country to the base of Ayodhya’s Sri Ram temple.
Paryaya Admaru Mutt seer Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji accordingly performed the Mangalarathi to the soil and offered prayers for the construction of the Sri Ram temple without any hindrance.
After receiving the soil from Swamiji, the activists from the VHP went around the mutt three times and proceeded to Sri Madanantheshwara temple where the priest offered prayers.
The soil was then filled in a brass tumbler and taken away.
The Sri Ram temple’s groundbreaking ceremony will be held on August 5. Pejawar mutt seer Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji, a member of the Trust overseeing the construction of the temple, will not be attending the ceremony in the wake of the Chaturmasya Vrata.
