On June 17, Hiralal Debbarma, posted a video on his YouTube channel showing what appears to be the wreckage of a helicopter’s rotor. The video has now gone viral and had drawn interest from across the country.
In the video, Debbarma interviews an old villager who speaks how 70 years ago he saw the helicopter crash.
The wreckage is in Tripura’s Central Reserve Forest in the Longthorai Valley in Dhalai district. The wreckage is half-buried on the grounds near a rivulet called Natin Manu.
According to the old man’s story narrated in the video, the helicopter crashed followed by another helicopter. However, the second helicopter flew away after some time.
As per the time mentioned by the old man, it seems the crash occurred sometime in 1950.
What is wondering is that since the crash of the helicopter it has remained there and there has been no investigation of it either by the State or Central government.
The area around the crash site is habituated by approximately 30-40 families. They are now demanding a probe into the wreckage.
