‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’: BSY pays tribute to soldiers

Bengaluru: On the occasion of 21st ‘Kargil Vijay diwas’ Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa paid tributes, brave soldiers, by laying a wreath on their portraits at National memory park on Sunday, July 26.
Speaking after paying tribute to the Martyrs, Yeddyurappa said that state government is always with the families of the martyred soldiers.
“Indian army soldiers have contributed a lot to our country they have helped all of us in the time of flood tsunami and earthquake, therefore, it’s our responsibility to take care of their families,” said the CM
Home minister Basavaraj Bommai and Chief Secretary of Karnataka government T Vijayabaskar were also present on the occasion.
The country is celebrating the anniversary of the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’. The Indian armed forces had defeated Pakistan on July 26, 1999. Since then, the day is celebrated as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to rekindle the pride and valour of the soldiers who took part in Operation Vijay.
The day marks the victory of Indian soldiers in recapturing the mountain heights that were occupied by the Pakistani Army on July 26, 1999, known as the Kargil War.
