Mangaluru: Death threat issued to DC Sindhu Rupesh on social media over tweet on cattle trafficking

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh is said to have received a death threat on social media.
The threat was issued shortly after the DC in a tweet asked people not to pay heed to rumors on social media post relating to cattle trafficking. “Many posts on social media regarding cattle trafficking are creating confusion among people. Police will take action in cases of illegal cattle transportation,” she said.
ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾನುವಾರು ಸಾಗಾಣಿಕೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಅನೇಕರು ಗೊಂದಲ ಉಂಟು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಜಾನುವಾರು ಸಾಗಾಣಿಕೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಂದ ಕಾನೂನು ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುವುದು. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ವದಂತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಕೋರಿದೆ.

This statement was circulated on Whatsapp group and during a discussion, a man allegedly said that he is ready to take or lay down his own life wherever anyone is found damaging the Hindutva or Hindu gods.
Police have said that the matter has been brought to their notice and an investigation has begun.
“If the DC files complaint, we will accept the same. Otherwise, we will investigate by registering suo motu case,” said Deputy commissioner of police (law and order), Arunangshu Giri.
