Bantwal: It is not one’s fault if one is contracted by COVID-19. But we must face it without fear and feelings of inferiority. It is possible to be free from COVID-19 when everyone has the thought that it is our responsibility to protect ourselves.
This is what the chairman of the Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA) B Devadas Shetty has to say after recovering from the disease.
I had a fever. When the fever did not subside I took a COVID-19 test as per the advice of MLA Rajesh Naik and admitted myself to a private hospital at Mangaluru.
After the report came positive my family, without being troubled, filled courage into me.
I made a video message about COVID-19 to reassure people. COVID-19 is not a life-threatening disease. We have to be careful not to get it along with other serious illnesses. No one needs to fear this curable disease.
I had no other ailments except fever. I am 56, have diabetes but in control. What is special is that my fever almost subsided in a single day. So I wasn’t worried. I spent the next five days in the hospital with positive thoughts. No circumstances blew my mind.
There is no need to be afraid of the coronavirus. However, precautions should not be forgotten. We should mandatorily wear masks. We must not unnecessarily go out. Distances must be maintained. Eat as much nutritious food as possible and exercise regularly.
Moreover, at such a time Udyavani, addressing social concerns through their ‘Corona Victors’ special issues is doing a yeoman’s service by spreading the message of those who have conquered the disease. For this, I would like to thank Udayavani.
