Lootcase is a black comedy Hindi film directed by Rajesh Krishnan and produced by Fox Star Studios. It features Kunal Khemu and Rasika Dugal in lead roles with Vijay Raaz, Ranvir Shorey, and Gajraj Rao in supporting roles.

The filmmakers had an initial theatrical release for April 10, 2020, however, they moved to Over-The-Top (OTT) release due to COVID-19 lockdown. The film was released on July 30, Friday on Disney+ Hotstar.

This film is about a common man, Nandan Kumar played by Kunal Khemu who works in a printing press and stumbles upon a red suitcase stuffed with 10 crore cash and takes it to his home. Meanwhile, many people like politicians, cops, and local dons are also in search of the suitcase. Will they be able to find the loot? One has to watch the film until the end to know this.

Director Rajesh Krishnan who is known for web series TVF Tripling finally got the opportunity of directing his first feature. The script is written by Kapil Sawant and Rajesh Krishnan and they have crafted the script in a way where the timeline changes throughout the film but they ensure that the audience is hooked into the several subplots involved in the pursuit of loot.

The movie has a runtime of over 130 minutes however the narration is intriguing which makes the audience watch it till the very end.

Kunal Khemu as Nandan is impressive in this film. He smoothly portrays the role of an affectionate common man in a loving marriage. His effortless comic timing and one-liners throughout the movie make you laugh and make you feel like he deserves better roles in Hindi cinema. Rasika Dugal who portrays the role of Lata, Nandan’s wife is spectacular in the movie.

Vijay Raaz, a don who is obsessed with National Geographic and speaks animal terminology while issuing orders to his subordinates is brilliant. Ranvir Shorey as a cold-blooded corrupt police officer is in fine form. Gajraj Rao as a manipulative politician who blackmails people for his personal gains is hilarious in Lootcase.

The other characters that are small but very impactful are the Printing press employer and the Auto Driver.

Unlike other films we watched in the recent past, each character in the movie has different personality traits and this creates a lasting impression.

There are many one-liners, analogies, and situations in the film by different characters that are hilarious. Its been a long time we have watched a well-written, well-performed comedy movie in Hindi cinema.

This is a delightful watch and you will have a carefree laugh with this one. Don’t miss this.
