A law is required that bans all activity after 8 pm. It will not supplement one’s health but will also help in saving many resources.
Udupi: Sri Sudughendra Tirtha Swamiji, the 59-year-old seer of the Puttige matha who returned after recovering from COVID-19, says that a National Policy on Food and Sleep should be devised.
The Swamiji says that because of his constant travels and reduced sleep his immunity had reduced making it easier for the virus to infect him.
The Swamiji in the past 20 years had bee to numerous countries and slept hardly three hours in a day. While travelling to America, during the 36-hour flight journey, he would not consume any food.
Since the age of 12, he had been consuming only ‘satvik aahara’ and has never tasted coffee too.
Sleeping at 8 pm and waking at 4 am gets one a perfect sleep. This is also a scriptural truth that one should always wake up at at the Brahmi Muhurta. If one is active during this period (8 pm to 4 am), then the viruses will attack. The Shastras call this time the demon’s time, said the Swamiji.
While undergoing treatment at the hospital Swamiji ate at sunset and slept at 8 pm. But before he was diagnosed with COVID-19 he would stay up late during late-night functions which hindered his rest.
A vaccine for the novel coronavirus must be found, however, one must change one’s lifestyle that reduces one’s immunity and resistance to viruses. A system must be implemented that ends working hours at 4 pm, said the Swamiji.
He further opined that one of the reasons why so many people in America and japan live longer is because they have dinner before 6 pm and sleep before 9 pm.
All activities after sunset must be penalised, there should be a constitution for citizen’s bodies. Our lifestyle must be similar to our ancestors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should implement a National Health Policy on the lines of the National Education Policy, added the Swamiji.
