Scientists have developed nanorods from aspirin for treating cataracts in a non-invasive and economical way.
Scientists from the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) claim that this is easy to use and low-cost alternative nonsurgical treatment method.
Also, that it will benefit patients in developing countries who cannot access expensive cataract treatments and surgeries. The aspirin nanorods are produced using the process of molecular self-assembly which is low cost
Aspirin nanorods prevent the aggregation of crystallin protein and various peptides derived from its fragmentation, which play a crucial role in cataract formation.
The research has been published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry B.
