How are gyms and fitness centers planning to reopen with new safety guidelines in place?

New guidelines have been released for yoga institutes and gyms across the country that are allowed to reopen from Wednesday, Aug 5

As per the guidelines, Gyms will have to operate under-capacity allowing limited members at one time.

Face cover or mask is mandatory at all times on the premises.Also, For air-conditioning and ventilation, the temperature setting should be in the range of 24-30 degree Celsius with intake of fresh air as much as possible.

Gym owners are making sure that they follow all kinds of safety protocol to contain the spread of the virus.

Udayavani spoke to one of the leading gym owners of Mangalore regarding their safety measures amid Covid-19.

Shruthi Keerthi raj, Owner of studio 6 fitness, Zuese groupX , said, “ Gym timings will be 5.30- 9 pm. And every hour we will be sanitizing the premises. Face shield, gloves and masks are mandatory.Temperature check will be done and social distancing measures will also be followed. All members must have Arogya setu app downloaded on their mobile phones. There will be no body contact between  trainers and members. Members are also requested to carry their own water bottles, santizers, towels etc.”

“We will also not be giving facilities like locker system, shower or drinking water. Only the toilets will be open for the members. As they will not be given access to the dressing rooms, members will have to change their clothes at home. They will also have to bring their own yoga mats as gym mats will not be accessible. Limited people will be allowed in the work out area and there will no air conditioners. Even though we regularly sanitize the equipment, the members must also sanitize their equipment before using, “ she added

However, Yoga institutes and gyms in containment zones will remain shut. Spas, sauna, steam bath and swimming pools are other facilities that are still not allowed to be reopened
