Bengaluru: The Member of the Legislative Assembly from Sira constituency B Satyanarayana passed away on Tuesday, August 4.

As per sources, Satyanarayana was suffering from multiple organ ailments from the past few days and was recently admitted to Manipal Hospital in the city. However, he passed away on Tuesday at 10:45 PM.

He contested from JDS and worked three times as MLA and 2 times as MP. He was the chairman of KSRTC during the coalition government led by HD Kumaraswamy.

Satyanarayana is survived by five daughters and one son.

“He was suffering for a long period of time with advanced chronic liver disease. He was in a very critical state and was under treatment at the intensive care unit for secondary to septicaemia with multisystem organ failure,” hospital sources said.

Earlier in the day, confusion had prevailed over his health as several political leaders including some ministers condoled his death, even as the hospital had maintained that he was at that time in a very critical state.

Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda mourned his death and said, “It is a shock to hear the demise of former minister and my close friend. We are friends from the past 3 decades and I cannot recall the days without him.”

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar said, “Satyanarayana was concerned for the farmers and he was a gentleman. Hearing the news hurts me and this is an irreparable loss to the political field.”
