Karnataka: Private buses ticket prices hike by 15%

Bengaluru: The State’s Transport Department has ordered a 15 per cent rise in the ticket prices of private buses in the State.
The order states two sets of bus fares, one for metropolitan areas – Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi and Mangaluru and another for non-metropolitan areas.
In metropolitan areas, ticket prices will be Rs 8 for the first 2 kilometres, Rs 5.7 for the next 2 kilometres and Rs 2.5 for subsequent 2 kilometres.
In non-metropolitan areas, ticket prices will be Rs 9.5 for the first 2 kilometres, Rs 6.5 for the next 2 kilometres and Re 1 for subsequent 2 kilometres.
Between 10 pm to 6 am bus fares can be surge charged by 1.5 times the normal fare.
