Shivamogga: Attack on police officials during raid to arrest marijuana peddlers

Shivamogga: A Sub Inspector and a constable were attacked by marijuana peddlers whom they had gone to arrest.

The incident took place on the Mandagatta Nagar road near Ayanur here.

SI Naveen Mathapati and Constable Basavantappa had gone to arrest two marijuana peddlers Madhu and Manu.

When they reached the house of the peddlers, SI Naveen was attacked on his head and fell unconscious. Constable Basavantappa’s hand was broken when he went to save SI Naveen.

The attackers fled from the scene.

Both SI Naveen and Constable Basavantappa were immediately taken to the Nanjappa Hospital, where the SI regained his consciousness after treatment.

Many hundred grams of marijuana were recovered from the house where the attack occurred. The police have already started a manhunt for the attackers.
