Mangaluru: As there is no drug or vaccine to cure COVID-19, many doctors around the world have been using plasma therapy to treat patients and two youths hailing from the city have traveled 750-kilometers to save COVID-19 patients by donating plasma.

Advocate Jeeshan Ali and entrepreneur Hyder who recovered from coronavirus recently have donated their plasma and saved two lives.

As per reports, the condition of an 85-year-old man from Bhatkal and another COVID-infected person being treated in a private hospital was critical and doctors had suggested plasma therapy to save their lives.

Following doctors suggestion, Wellness Helpline Group’s coordinator Zakariya Parvez contacted Jeeshan Ali, while, Hidaya Foundation president Kasim Ahmed called Hyder Ali and asked them to donate the plasma.

Accordingly, the duo travelled to Bengaluru and returned with the plasma which was administered to patients. Later, the processed plasma was administered to the patients and both are recovering.

As there is no permission to collect plasma from the recovered patients in Mangaluru, though treatment is available, the duo had to travel to Bengaluru to donate their plasma.
