What is the Faceless income tax Assessment scheme launched by PM Modi?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched ‘Transparent Taxation – Honoring the Honest’ programme through a video conference. The PM launched a faceless income tax assessment and Taxpayers Charter
The PM launched Faceless Assessment and Taxpayers Charter from today while Faceless Appeal service will come into force on September 25.
What is Faceless Assessment?
Faceless Assessment scheme was launched to eliminate the human interface in the assessment system. Under the system, the selection of a taxpayer is possible only through systems using analytics and AI.
According to LiveMint, Under the system, the taxpayer will not be required to visit the income tax office or the officer and the appellate decision will be team-based and reviewed.
The system abolishes territorial jurisdiction which means a tax payer may belong to one city but the ITR may be assessed in some other city through random selection by computer.
Also, the cases will be automatically allotted on a random basis. Central issuance of notices with Document Identification No.(DNI)
Exceptions to the Faceless Assessment includes serious frauds, major tax evasions, Black Money Act, Benami property.
