K’taka COVID-19 update: 8642 new cases; 7201 discharges; 126 deaths on Aug 18

Bengaluru: From the midnight of August 17 to the midnight of August 18, 8,642 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from across the State.

In the same period, 7,201 people were discharged from hospitals in the State after recovering from the virus while 126 died due to COVID-19-related complications.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the State is now nearing 2.5 lakhs with the present tally being 2,49,590 cases.

There are now 81,097 active COVID-19 cases in the State out of which 704 are in Intensive Care Units.

The COVID-19 death toll in the State has now reached 4,327.

Bengaluru Urban has topped again in the highest number of cases reported from a district at 2804.

High cases reported from individual districts Shivamogga (915), Mysuru (562), Bellary (537), Belgaum (379), Udupi (375), Dharwad (253), Davanagere (228), Hassan (228), Dakshina Kannada (234) Mandya (185), Bagalkote (163), Kalaburagi (154), Raichur (153), Gadag (149), Koppal (133), Haveri (137), Ramanagara (126) and Chikmagalur (100).
