Bengaluru: With the introduction of new education policy, many Kannadigas have opposed the mandatory three language policy and begun a Twitter campaign against the imposition of Hindi as the third language

A campaign demanding for the bilingual policy has been launched and hashtag #WeWantTwoLanguagePolicy is trending on Twitter.

Many netizens have claimed that in north India, the mother tongue is Hindi and they learn English for business. In Tamil Nadu, they only learn English along with their mother tongue Tamil. Hence, there should be English as a second langue and there should not be an imposition of Hindi in Karnataka.

Netizens said that bilingual policy should be introduced in Karnataka and the choice to learn any other languages is up to the individual’s choice. There should not by any attempt to forcefully make someone learn other languages.

Many celebrities including actor Vasisht N. Simha, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, have also opposed Hindi imposition in Karnataka.

Here are some of the tweets.
