Koppal: Amid Covid-19, several festivals and processions have been canceled. But, in a temple in Dotihal village of Kustigi, Koppal district, people broke the temple gates, and chariot was forcibly taken out despite restrictions in place.
Now, fifty people involved in the event have been arrested and charged with rioting. It is said that tehsildar had given permission for the puja that is held annually at the temple with limited people. But, the crowd grew to over fifty people, and to avoid any chaos, temple doors were shut. However, the crowd broke the temple gates and entered the temple.
Reportedly, Police officials dispersed the crowd, took the chariot back and locked the gates. Arrests were made based on the CCTV footage.
