Mangaluru: Police resort to mild lathi charge to disperse BJP activists protesting against Kerala border restrictions

Mangaluru: Karnataka government recently opened all the borders and is allowing movement of people into the state. But, Kerala government has still not allowed hassle free entry into the state which has caused problems for the daily commuters.

On Friday, Aug 28, Several BJP activists went to the Karnataka-Kerala border with a copy of the high court order in hand and Verbal friction ensued between the BJP activists and police personnel guarding the border  Later, police resorted to light lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

It is said that on friday evening, police officials deployed on the border told BJP workers that from Thursday onward, citizens from Manjeshwar, Varkady and Meenja panchayats were allowed to cross the border.

They also said that they had not received any instruction about allowing people from other gram panchayats.

OBC Morcha state treasurer, Naveenraj K J, BJP Manjeshwar Mandal vice president, Padmanabha Kadappara, , Yuva Morcha Manjeshwar Mandal president, Chandrakanth were present.
