Chikmagalur: From Tuesday, September 1, light vehicles and KSRTC minibuses have been allowed passage through the Charmadi ghat through all hours of the day.

Speaking on the issue, Chikmagalur Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautam said that a few days ago, heavy downpours had caused landslides as a result of which vehicles were allowed passage through the ghat only between 7 am to 7 pm. But now vehicular traffic will be allowed 24 hours a day.

Charmadi ghat road connects Chikmagalur with Mangaluru and had a lot of vehicular traffic passing every day. But heavy rains and landslides prevented the movement of traffic. With the reduction in the amount of rainfall normal traffic has been resumed.
