Overnight rains leave half of B’luru flooded; Trees uprooted, vehicles submerged

Bengaluru: Many trees were uprooted and vehicles submerged after heavy rains lashed several parts of Bengaluru on Tuesday, September 8 night.
Waterlogging was reported in several low-lying areas, including Sahakar Nagar, Horamavu, Hennur, Dasarahalli, Peenya, HBR Layout, and at Manyata Tech Park, in Hebbal, North Bengaluru.
Staff at Manyata Tech Park were seen draining the water that had entered their workspace.
BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad on Wednesday, September 9 taking to Twitter wrote, “In view of the record rainfall of more than 100 mm in 15 wards, waterlogging in low-lying areas have been reported. BBMP has taken up relief measures. While officials are addressing the problems, citizens can also call BBMP Control Room or their respective Zonal Control Rooms.”
