Red alert issued in parts of Karnataka for Sept 11; Heavy rainfall for five days

Mangaluru: The meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall to continue in the state for five more days and a red alert has been issued in parts of Karnataka by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for September 11.
“Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada are very likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places; red alert announced on Sept 11. Coastal Karnataka is very likely to receive widespread rainfall from September 9 to 13,” CS Patil, Director of the IMD, Bengaluru said.
He further announced an orange alert on September 10 and 12 and a yellow alert for September 9 and 13 for Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada which are very likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rain.
In addition, orange alerts have been issued for the next four days in Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan districts. A yellow alert has been issued for four days in Bengaluru, Bengaluru rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara and Tumakuru districts.
A yellow alert has also been sounded for Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Kalaburagi districts located in north interior Karnataka, said director of the department C S Patil
