India, Japan sign pact allowing use of each other’s military facilities

India and Japan have opened up their military bases for each other’s army, navy and air force. The pact was signed on Wednesday, Sep 9, by Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and Japanese Ambassador Suzuki Satoshi
The agreement will facilitate closer cooperation and use of each other’s military facilities by the armed forces.
Also, the new pact allows sharing of military bases, storage and other facilities, training services, spare parts and components as well as providing repair and maintenance services at the airports and seaports to each other.
PM Narendra Modi and outgoing Japanese PM Shinzo Abe welcomed the pact in a summit held over the phone.
