Kolar: The Somambudhi Agrahara lake, the largest lake in the district, started overflowing on Wednesday evening after twenty years.
Somambudhi Agrahara Lake is on the course of the Palar river that originates at the Nandi Hills and flows through the Chikkaballapur and Kolar district into Tamil Nadu.
The lake which has an area of about 1,000 hectares had not been filled for two decades. Just a few months ago, KC Valley water was let into it to fill it.
However, the authorities are now saying that water was let into the lake after all the lakes preceding the Somambudhi Agrahara Lake had filled up.
The lake’s water overflowing at its edges attracted a lot of people to it. Many arrived there from Kolar town, played in the falling water, walked on the edges and shot selfies. The photos of the overflowing lake have now gone viral on social media.
