Mysuru: Chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for late actor Vishnuvardhan’s memorial in Mysuru via video conference.
The state government had sanctioned a 5-acre land at Halalu village near Udbur off Mysuru-H.D. Kote Road for the memorial. A 6-feet statue of the late actor will be built at the spot.
The total project cost is estimated at Rs 11 crore. While the memorial will be constructed on a 2-acre land, a branch of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) will be set up here to promote budding talents.
Earlier the memorial was proposed to be built in Bengaluru, but Vishnuvardhan’s family had expressed desire to have the same in Mysuru, which also happens to be the birthplace of the late actor.
Chief Minister Yediyurappa assured of all possible assistance from the government for building the memorial.
