Mangaluru: Violating govt order, varsity issues notification for fees

Vitla: The Mangalore University has issued an order stating all degree colleges affiliated to it must submit their fees before September 30.
This comes as the government had earlier ordered all school and colleges not to charge fees until notified by it.
The order states that colleges must start online classes, seek fees and pay the university’s share to it.
The order has met with widespread criticism from the colleges as most of them are yet to finish their admission process and start classes. The government has not yet provided a date for restarting classes.
Dr PS Yadapadithaya, the Vice-Chancellor of the university has stated that the university has not violated any government order. Colleges have only been ordered to submit their fees. However, there is no pressure to pay the whole year’s fees at once. Students will have the option to pay the fees in instalments. We have asked colleges to ensure that no student is burdened with the trouble of paying fees.
