Hiriadka murder: Police seize Ritz car used by assailants

Udupi: Police investigating the brutal killing of a rowdy sheeter at Hiriadka have seized a Ritz car in which the assailants had fled from the crime scene.
On September 24, rowdy-sheeter Kishan Hegde was hacked to death in broad daylight near Veerabhadra temple here. Investigation into the case has revealed that the murder was committed over financial issues.
As per the information, Hegde alongwith two others – Hariprasad Shetty and Divyaraj Shetty had arrived here and parked the car near the temple. At this time few people, armed with weapons, approached their vehicle from the front and smashed its windshield. One of the attackers, identified as Manoj assaulted Hegde with a sword.
Hegde tried to escape his attackers but he was chased and assaulted repeatedly. He succumbed to his wound on the spot. Hariprasad and Divyaraj tried to stop the attackers, however, the former suffered injuries on the left size of his head and is being treated at a hospital. Divyaraj somehow managed to escape from there.
Later the assailants escaped in a white Ritz car and light yellow Innova car, both of which went towards Karkala side.
A complaint was filed by Divyaraj at Hiriadka station and a case has been registered under IPC sections 143, 147, 148, 341, 324, 307, 504, 506, 302, 427 and 149.
