Many farmer-related org in DK & Udupi dist’s to support Bandh; services to be hit

Mangaluru, Udupi: Various pro-farmer organisations and some political parties in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have supported the bandh called on Monday, September 28 protesting against the Centre’s farm bills and State government’s amendments to Land Reforms Act.

Ravikiran Punacha, State secretary of Hasuru Sene has informed that there will be protests and roadblocks in Bantwal and Sullia under the auspices of many farmers, dalits and workers’ orgainstions.

“Protests will be held at the Moodabidri bus stand at 10 am in support of the Bandh,” stated Yadava Shetty, State vice president of Karnataka Pranth Raita Sangha.

In Mangaluru, some political parties have also stated that they will be organising a protest rally and roadblock in front of the mini Vidhan Soudha.

In Udupi, about 15 organisations have declared support for the bandh.

Ashrayadata Auto Union has stated that they will support the bandh and will not be operating any autorickshaws between 6 am and 6 pm.

KSRTC officials at Mangaluru division said that they had not received any notification from the central office regarding the stopping of bus services on September 28.

Dilraj Alva, president of the Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners Association and Kuilady Suresh Nayak, president of the Udupi City Bus Owners Association both have stated that private bus operations will be running as usual.

SSLC supplementary examiniations scheduled on September 28 has been postponed to September 29 informed a press release.

The University of Mangalore also informed that all undergraduate and postgraduate examinations scheduled on September 28 have been postponed. The revised date will be notified soon. All other examinations will be held as scheduled.
