Bengaluru: A state-wide bandh on Monday, September 28 called by various farmers’ organisations is underway in several districts of the state with protesters marching on the streets and burning tyres.

The dawn-to-dusk bandh call has been supported by several pro-Kannada and other outfits besides the opposition Congress and the JD(S), who had opposed protesting the amendments to the APMC and land reforms acts made by the Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa government. It is also backed by several labour organisations who are protesting against amendments to certain labour laws during the brief assembly session that concluded on September 26.

While the Yediyurappa has assured that public transport services would not be affected, some protesting organisations are trying to stop bus services and will also to stop train services.

Protesting farmers in Bellari burnt tyres on roads to prevent movement of vehicular traffic.

In Udupi the bus services were operating normally in the morning, now the outfits supporting the bandh have requested to halt the services.
