Mangaluru: Social media is one of the most powerful mediums to make an initiative go viral and has often led to positive outcomes. With this in mind, Dakshina Kannada Congress Youth President Mithun Rai has begun a #RoadChallenge to draw attention of concerned authorities towards the poor conditions of roads in the coastal district.
Dakshina Kannada shares its border with Kasargod, Hassan and other districts. The New Mangaluru Port, which is among one of the major ports in the country is situated here. Given the fact that the district is a major hub for commercial activities, the road infrastructure here should have been a priority for the administration.
However the roads here are damaged and potholes are found on various stretches of the National Highway.
Using the hashtag, Mithun shared pictures of Hassan-Bengaluru National Highway and Bengaluru-Mangaluru road on social media and urged others also to do the same.
The #RoadChallenge has now gone viral and several have shared and commented by uploading photos on the condition of the roads.
Motorists have even pointed out that due to the poor condition of roads they end up spending more for maintenance of their vehicles.
