Bengaluru: Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi has stated that the States of Telangana and Goa is trying to create a new controversy over the Mahadayi and Krishna river water sharing issue and he will not allow them to do so and mete injustice to the State.
Releasing a statement after a telephone conversation with Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jarkiholi added that the Telangana government has taken a new step in the issue of Krishna river water distribution.
“The judiciary has already issued a final ruling on the Krishna river water allocation. Water was distributed to Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh in 2013 itself,” he added.
“The Central government has also decided to issue a notification of the verdict after the Supreme Court has given its final verdict. Hence, the Telangana government’s argument that a new tribunal should be established on the issue of water sharing is irrational,” he said.
