Sasihitlu: An incident of boat capsizing at an estuary near Haleangadi Sasihitlu Munda beach occurred on the night of Sunday, October 11. Of the six fishermen on the boat, 5 have been found and rescued.

The one missing fisherman has been identified as Sukesh Bappanadu (25) a resident of Hejamadi.

The six had gone for fishing in the boat of Eknath Karkera from Hejamadi. While returning in the night the boat capsized.

“Strong winds threw Sukesh overboard. Others in the boat were rescued by fishing boats nearby,” said Chandrakumar, a fisherman from Sasihitlu, to Udayawani.

It was learned that due to the darkness of the night it became difficult to search for Sukesh.

On the morning of Monday, October 12, Sasihitlu and Hejamadi fishermen, lifeguards and coastal police arrived at the spot and began a search.
