Bengaluru: Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj on Friday staged a protest in front of the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha demanding that the Centre release an interim compensation of Rs 25,000 crore towards losses of properties and crops due to rain and floods in the North Karnataka region.

Apart from the interim compensation, Nagraj also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertake a visit to the flood-affected areas in Karnataka and take stock of the situation on the same lines as he visits other states during such natural calamities.

Meanwhile, the police briefly detained Nagraj for staging a demonstration here and later released him.
