Sandalwood drugs case: K’taka HC sends notice to CCB over Ragini’s bail

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court issued a notice to the Central Crime Branch regarding the bail application of actress Ragini Dwivedi, who is in custody in connection with the Sandalwood drugs case.

The NDPS Special Court here had denied bail to the Ragini on September 28 after which she moved the High Court. Her petition was heard by Justice BA Patil, who issued the notice to the CCB regarding her bail application and adjourned the matter to October 23.

Ragini’s lawyer, Mohammed Tahir, argued in the High Court that Ragini has nothing to do with the Sandalwood Drugs case. Adding that she has never consumed nor supplied or sold drugs.

He further stated that there are no evidences or documents for the allegation made against Ragini by the police who registered an FIR on the basis of a statement by Ravishankar misusing the law.

There were no drugs found in her home, during inspection but still, the police arrested her. The trial court, which refused bail and handed her over to judicial custody, is inappropriate. Thus, it was requested that the bail be granted, he added.
