Bengaluru: Riding without a helmet will soon cost motorists in the city their driving license, though wearing a helmet was made compulsory for motorists in 2017, a majority continue to ignore the rule. In a bid to make the people wear helmet compulsorily the transportation department has decided to suspend the license for a period of three months.
The state government has issued a notification with this regard.
The license of those who do not wear a helmet will be suspended for three months along with penalties under Article 194-T of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, stated the notification.
The Motor Vehicles Act states that two-wheeler riders have to use protective headgear that should conform to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and users should check their quality.
