Punjalkatte: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reopening of schools have not been fixed yet. However, the alumni of a school here painted their old school to make it look attractive to new students.
For their work, this group of young alumni of the Shivanagar Government Senior Primary School at Mavinakkatte in Chennithodi village in Bantwal taluk have received acclaim.
The work was the brainchild of Avinash Badyar, a civil engineer in Bengaluru and painting hobbyist. He along with 25 other old students of the school decided to make good use of their COVID-19-induced lockdown time.
After brainstorming for creative ideas, they decided on the project to beautify their old school with Warli painting.
In almost a month’s time, the school’s walls and pillars were repainted with new colours and exquisite Warli art showcasing stories, celebrations, rituals, and folklore of Tulunadu.
This innovative effort of these talented youngsters was widely appreciated by schoolteachers, parents and the local community.
