Mangaluru: A private school here has removed students from its WhatsApp group, used for sharing study materials by the school’s teachers with their students, allegedly for not paying their fees.

Parents of these students have stated that they have written to Central and State governments over this incident which hey claim happened on October 15.

Additionally, the parents also alleged that the school also rescinded on its promise to not increase fees for the next five years. It did so the very next academic year of this promise being made.

On the other hand, the school authorities have stated that the fees for which the students were removed from the group were not of this academic year.

An official from the Dakshina Kannada’s Department of Public Instruction has stated that parents cannot be forced by educational institutions to pay fees and that they will take action on this issue once they receive a formal complaint from the parents.
