Mangaluru: With Diwali round the corner, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V has notified about guidelines to be followed by outlets selling firecrackers.

While emphasising on celebrating the festival by abiding Covid-19 norms, the DC said that a distance of at least six meters must be maintained between two firecracker outlets.

Only authorised firecracker outlets can be set up between November 1 and 17 and care must be taken that the stall is not in close proximity to public and residential places.

Outlets will have to display a copy of the license, said the DC adding that those persons, against whose names the license is issued must be present at the outlet.

Other norms such as sanitising the premises, social distancing, thermal screening use of face masks must be followed, the order said.
