Karnataka floods: Rs 10,000 crore special relief package sought from Centre

Bengaluru: Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has sought Rs 10,000 crore special relief package from the Central government to handle the relief and rehabilitation measures for the families, farmers and areas affected by the floods.

A day after conducting an aerial survey of affected districts in the northern and northwest regions of the state, Yediyurappa wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi apprising him about the present flood situation in the state.

The loss to crops, property, infrastructure arising out of three spells of extreme rain and floods this year alone has been estimated at Rs 21,609 crore, the letter states.
