CM BSY to inaugurate online platform for graduate courses on Nov 17

Bengaluru: The State government has decided to create a new online platform for graduate students using which students can learn by watching and listening to the lessons by their favourite professors and lecturers. The Department of Higher Education has prepared a “Learning Management System” (LMS) for this purpose.

Many foreign universities and private educational institutions already have these types of platforms, however, this will be the first trial of such a system in the country at government-level.

CM Yediyurappa will officially launch the platform on November 17.

The platform will be free and will host wide-ranging courses including engineering, diploma, BA, BSc, BCom and other undergraduate degrees of the government.

Students will have the opportunity to download and listen to the lessons of their favourite professors not just those from their college as professors of any college can upload lessons on it.

Teachers will be able to evaluate the students and students will have a separate box called the Doubt Forum allowing them to ask questions about the topic they did not understand.

Students will not have to spend on the internet to download content from the platform as the government is deciding to create a ‘WiFi Zone’ in every government college for this purpose.

The online learning portal will benefit over 5 lakh students in the State.

State’s Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayana said: “We are preparing an LMS forum for graduate students. This is going to revolutionize the education system and will benefit the new generation of students.”
