Bengaluru: 1.59 lakh people violated COVID-19 rules; Rs 3.5 cr fines collected

Bengaluru: While the number of cases of COVID-19 infections in the city is declining, the number of violators of mandatory mask-wearing and distancing rule is not decreasing.
A total of 1,59,448 cases of violation of mask-wearing rule were reported in the eight zones of BBMP.
Marshals charge Rs 200 each for not wearing masks. Till September 26, Rs 3,53,40,819 were collected as fines from non-mask-wearers.
Additionally, Rs 39,19,916 was the total collection from 18,239 people violating distancing norms.
The total number of people fined for violating mask-wearing and distancing rule are 1,77,687 from whom a total of Rs 3,92,60,735 were collected.
