Udupi: Anil Kumar elected Kaup town council president, Malini vice president

Kaup: BJP-backed Anil Kumar Kaup has been elected as the new president of the Kaup town council and Congress-backed Malini as the vice president.

In the election held on Wednesday, October 28 the president was elected with 13 in favour and 11 against votes while the election of the vice president was unanimous.

The 23-member Kaup town council has 12 members of the Congress and 11 of the BJP. The BJP garnered a majority with the votes of BJP MPs and MLAs.

Anil Kumar from the BJP and Shabu Saheb from Congress contested for the presidency in the backward class “A” reserved category.

Kumar was formerly a member of the Kapu gram panchayat. He has also served as the president of Kaup JCI.
