Bengaluru: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that discussions on a law to stop the menace of Love Jihad are ongoing and a decision on it will be taken soon after considering the actions of other States on the issue.

“In recent times, organised forces are trying to mislead the youth by proselytising them. Even the Ahmedabad High Court has stated that it is not right to proselytise under the guise of marriage. We are discussing with law experts and are also watching what is happening in other States on the issue. Based on their advice, a special law will be formulated to prosecute Love Jihad,” Bommai said.

“The debate on the issue has been going on for eight to ten years in the country and it comes up after every case. Now, after the High Court’s statement, a legal process has begun to stop this menace. The government is considering a law within the limits of the constitution,” Bommai said.
