Mangaluru: Slamming the government’s decision to ban firecrackers this Deepavali season, Congress MLA UT Khader on Friday said that the government has been taking sudden decisions without proper planning.
Khader pointed out that days after inviting applications for issuance of licence for selling firecrackers, the government has decided to ban firecrackers this Deepavali. Why no such ban was imposed for the executive meeting or elections, he questioned.
Speaking to reporters here, Khader said that the special executive meeting of BJP was unproductive and only internal party affairs came up for discussion.
As the meeting was being held in Mangaluru after a span of two decades. there were hopes that pertinent issues concerning the district such as renaming airport after Kotichennaya, inclusion of Tulu language in Eighth Schedule, sand mafia, etc would come up for discussion, said Khader adding that no resolutions were taken on issues of the pandemic, unemployment, education etc.
Former MLA J R Lobo, district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai and others were present.
