Bengaluru: Minister of Kannada and Culture CT Ravi has appealed for the resumption of Kannada programs on the Mumbai Aakashvani.

Ravi has already written a letter to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and Prasad Bharati Chairperson insisting that radio programs be restarted on the Mumbai Aakashvani as per the demands of the Kannadigas there.

Kannada programs have been on the airwaves of Mumbai for the past seven decades with approximately 25 lakh people listening to them. However, the sudden ending of the programs has saddened many people, the minister noted.

He added that the Constitution allows people speaking a language to use their language in any part of the country they are residing, thereby being a catalyst for national integration.

Prominent Kannada writers Baragur Ramachandrappa and others brought it (ending of Kannada programs) to my attention. The government must act against the shutdown of these programs, Ravi appealed.
