Mangaluru: MLA UT Khader, in a news conference on November 18, stated that the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) has approved a water supply project to provide water to 25 villages in his constituency.
He added that the project, with a total cost of Rs 280 crores, will provide water to 21 villages in Mangaluru taluk and 4 in Bantwal taluk from a water plant at Kairangala.
“The project will provide water for the long-term. About 50 per cent of the project is already done,” Khader said. Adding that the work will be complete before the end of 2021.
He further stated that an additional Rs 22 crore under the Jagjivan Ram Mission and a little more than Rs 25 crore through the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj has also been allocated for water supply through overhead tanks.
The bridge-cum-barrage project from Adyar to Harekala crossing over the Netravati river has also commenced.
